OLPH Cross Country Headed to State Championship

For the first time in school history, the OLPH Cross Country program is sending a boys and girls team to the State Championship in Normal, IL.
After their Sectional Meet in Wadsworth was postponed by the weather over the weekend, the OLPH cross country team decided to practice in the rain back in Glenview.  According to head coach, Dave Zimmer, it was one of the best practices of the year, as the runners were motivated and ready to run, despite the conditions.  Apparently, the dedication and extra work paid off, as both the boys and girls team sprinted to first place finishes at the rescheduled Sectional on Tuesday, October 9, at Millburn Middle School.  The teams were paced with top-10 finishes by Emma Burke, Sophie Goldberg, Tara Wirtschoreck, and Teegan Browe.  This is the first time in school history that both teams have qualified, and now they’ll look to continue their season with a strong finish at the State Championship at Maxwell Park in Normal, IL, this Saturday morning.
