Be a Warrior! Representing OLPH on an athletic team is a privilege, yet also challenging and fun. Prior to the start of each new season, the school athletic director organizes an electronic event registration for various sports teams. Parental permission, current medical forms, and a participation fee are required. Those who meet the standards for OLPH student-athletes are eligible to participate on a team. OLPH teams include the following:

  • Boys Football: A fall sport for fifth through eighth graders
  • Girls Volleyball: A fall sport for fifth through eighth graders
  • Boys and Girls Soccer: A fall sport for fifth through eighth graders
  • Boys and Girls Cross Country: A fall sport for fifth through eighth graders
  • Boys Basketball: A winter sport for fifth through eighth graders
  • Girls Basketball: A winter sport for fifth through eighth graders
  • Warriorettes: A winter sport, this dance team promotes school spirit at varsity basketball games
  • Boys Lacrosse: A spring sport for fifth through eighth graders
  • Girls Lacrosse: A spring sport for fifth through eighth graders
  • Boys and Girls Golf: A spring sport for sixth through eighth graders
  • Boys and Girls Track: A spring sport for fifth through eighth graders

OLPH has been at the center of my family's life for nearly 20 years. After coaching twenty seasons of youth sports for my children, I decided to give back to the community that has meant so much to my family via coaching basketball.

  • Cross Country Coaches: Terry Ryan

    Coach Terry Ryan began coaching at OLPH in 2018, while working alongside Coach Dave Zimmer.  In his time at OL, he has worked closely with both the boy's and girl's teams that seized Top 10 finishes at the State Meet, while working to improve individual efforts of all runners. 
  • Varsity Football Coach: Jim O’Gara

    Coach Jim O’Gara played football at OLPH, Loyola Academy, and then at Holy Cross in Worcester, MA. Coach O’Gara has been at OLPH since 2000, and has collected nine League championships during his tenure as varsity coach, including four consecutive through 2017, and most recently bringing home the 2019 Loyola Division Championship.
  • Varsity Soccer Coach: Jon Novotny

    Coach Jon Novotny has spent the past four years as an assistant and co-head coach of the OLPH soccer program.  He will be taking over the helm in his fifth year, and will look to build on the success and popularity of the futsal program he has been instrumental in implementing. 
  • Varsity Girls Volleyball Coach: Kerry Durham

    Coach Durham has many years of coaching volleyball and basketball at many levels, including leading the varsity girls basketball program at Regina Dominican High School. Coach Durham is a valued member of the OLPH coaching staff as she is always wiling to help out and assist other coaches.
  • Varsity Girls Volleyball Coach: Nancy Speers

    Coach Speers has been coaching at OLPH since 2007, and played for 4 years at Evanston Township High School, before playing collegiately at the University of North Carolina where she was voted team captain. Coach Speers has amassed numerous Council II-3A Championships, including three consecutive titles from 2014-2016.  In 2018, she added another championship with a finals victory over Faith, Hope & Charity Winnetka.
  • Warriorettes Coach: Nicole Bogyo

    Coach Bogyo began in junior high poms and continued into college where she captain of the dance team for 3 years. She went on to coach college level at both Barat College and DePaul University. This is Coach Bogyo’s second year as the Warriorettes dance coach. She has over 30 years of dance experience and currently teaches dance class in Long Grove and Palatine.
  • Varsity Boys Basketball Coach: Jack Anton

    Coach Anton has been a coach in the OLPH program for nineteen years, including the last ten as varsity coach. In his first seven years, he coached with Bill Yacullo and claimed 4 championships during that time. Coach Anton regularly attends coaching clinics, local high school games, and reinforces aggressive defensive principles while developing multidimensional players. In 2020, Coach Anton led the boys to their sixth championship in eight years as they knocked off St. Mary Lake Forest.
  • Varsity Girls Basketball Coach: Tony Belmont

    Coach Belmont has experience coaching both boys and girls at many levels, including youth and junior varsity at Regina Dominican High School. Coach Belmont has over thirteen years of basketball coaching experience and earned a varsity championship in 2009-2010 while co-coaching the 8th grade OLPH girls team with Coach Durham.  Most recently (2019), he led the varsity girls team to their fifth consecutive championship as they toppled St. Francis Xavier Wilmette in the finals at Loyola Academy.
  • Varsity Boys Basketball Coach: Joe Daly

    Coach Daly has coached for several years at OLPH, and recently won the 8th Grade Boys Ignatius Division with Coach Aksamitowski in 2016. The following year, he teamed up with Coach Anton to lead the OLPH Blue team to the second best league record in the Loyola Division.  Coach Daly has since led the White team to back-to-back championships in the Ignatius Division in 2018 and 2019.
